WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

It’s Women’s History Month and we are endlessly inspired by the women in our community who make Hudson County an incredible places to live. From business owners to community leaders to educators to friends and neighbors, we feel lucky to be surrounded by such inspiring women. Here are a few noteworthy women and organizations who inspire us.

Clémence Danko, Choc O Pain

Clémence Danko is the owner of four Choc O Pain locations serving the most delicious bread, coffee, pastries, and more. She trained at ICE in NYC and took classes in business and management prior to starting the successful business in 2012. They now have a diverse staff with over 70 bakers, pastry chefs, baristas, and staff. She is not only a keen business woman, she is a mother and is involved in the community. Coming from Paris originally, and having lived in Switzerland as well, this Jersey girl was thrilled to to hear about her love of Hoboken and Jersey City. — Elizabeth

Amber Hirsch, Mess Method

I am inspired by my friend and owner of Mess Method, Amber Hirsch. Not only does Amber motivate me to do barre on Thursday’s which I hate!, she also holds me accountable for sporadic fitness challenges- and she does it with the most positive upbeat attitude. I am proud of her for being so brave to start her own business. She took a leap of faith to do this and then it was March 2020 and the COVID pandemic. Not only did she persevere, but she came back with a vengeance and was recently able to expand her studio. She is a true example of a local Mom that can do it all! — Amber

Christine Gatto, Salon Gatto

I am so impressed with the services and experience at Salon Gatto. I learned of the hair salon through many friends and clients and have been thrilled with my results from Molly and Hannah. Owner Christine Gatto is not only an expert stylist, she is an innovative business women and educator in her field. After years in the industry, she opened her first salon in Hoboken 8 years ago. Christine recently opened an uptown location (thank you) seven months ago. The salons have a true luxury environment and I love the collaboration among stylists. — Elizabeth
